Anointing of the Sick

Jesus came to heal the whole person, body and soul. The Rite of Anointing tells us there is no need to wait until a person is at the point of death to receive the Sacrament. Participation in the rites is also encouraged for those who are struggling with serious or chronic illness, those who face surgery due to serious illness, those who suffer serious emotional/mental illness and the elderly who are weakened, even though no notable illness is present.
